Not Funny, Didn't Laugh

The year is 2084, society is tightly controlled by the oppressive organization known as “The Funny”. They started as an unremarkable and unexceptional small political party. However, using deceitful tactics and conniving schemes throughout the decades, each and every of their calculated steps led to their inevitable subjugation and complete domination of humanity. People are indoctrinated into believing that humour is the only acceptable way of thinking. Social statuses are now defined by one’s sense of humour. Citizens are mandated to meet a quota of the total number of minutes they laughed in a day, on top of having to do daily laughing exercises. Each person has a unique file scoring how much they contribute to “The Funny” of their community, known as the “Ha-Ha Score”. Citizens are also administrated of mandatory daily doses of “Happy Pills”, without which they will slowly debilitate and eventually becoming completely incapable of functioning as a human being. At any time of the day, “The Comedy Police” would be seen patrolling at every corner of the city, keeping an eye out for any gloomy grouch. Some more fanatical devotees have even built establishments around the globe to gather followers to worship the supreme entity they call“The Funny”. 

As a highly intellectual scholar, having awakened to the menace of “The Funny”, I believe this malevolent and manipulated obsession with humour is evidently the cause of societal decay and the root of all evil. My philosophy is to dismantle the oppressive regime control, as I envision a world where people are free to be depressed and miserable. 

As a result, I have decided to embark on a perilous journey to eradicate this gross and wicked mind disease plaguing humanity, this hideous and atrocious mass hysteria that have set the approach of our ruin in motion. I shall liberate minds and restore true human connection, create a new world free from the shackles of laughter, save our future of mankind from this tyrannical grip, and lead humanity back to the path of light once again. To do so, I have to annihilate each and every fragment of “The Funny” from its core and its essence. This is where my honourable and ambitious pursuit of banishing the greatest threat and the most dreadful enemy known to man, “The Funny”.
